We would like to invite you to attend the Final Scientific Conference of the EC-funded Marie-Curie Initial Training Network ImResFun www.imresfun.org/. This high level international meeting will conclude the project.
The conference will take place from September 3-7, 2017 in Innsbruck, one of the most beautiful cities in the Austrian Alps. Attendance is limited to a maximum of 120 participants. Registration will open on May 1, 2017. Participation will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, but submission of abstracts is strongly encouraged, as preference will be given to participants with submitted abstracts. The all-inclusive registration fee of 680€ for students and postdoctoral fellows and 780€ covers four nights hotel accommodation, all food (lunch/dinner), coffee breaks and access to the meeting, well as conference materials. The scientific program and detailed information will be available here at the end of March 2017.
ImResFun aimed for a better understanding of mechanisms driving the interplay of fungal pathogens with the host immune system, and how a host response promotes invasive fungal diseases or clearance of pathogens. Thus, the 3,5 day conference will discuss our current knowledge concerning the molecular basis of fungal pathogen-host interactions. The exciting program includes two keynote plenary lectures, 14 invited plenary talks by leading scientists from Europe and the USA. Junior faculty members, PhD students and postdoctoral fellows will have the opportunity for oral presentations, owing to a large number of talks selected from submitted abstracts. Poster sessions will offer additional opportunities for scientific exchange.
Moreover, we plan to have moderated round table discussions with leaders in the field to network and discuss how we can better support the medical mycology research and make it attractive for research careers by increasing visibility in the public as well as in funding agencies.
Finally, afternoons will be free, offering all participants ample opportunities to closely interact during fishing, hiking, biking and climbing activities in the breathtaking mountains surrounding Innsbruck.

We are excited to once again assemble many of the leading clinicians and scientists from around the world for the 8th Advances Against Aspergillosis conference, to take place in Lisbon, Portugal from 1st to 3rd February 2018. This conference has now clearly established itself as the premier forum for detailed and dedicated discussion of all aspects of Aspergillus infection and research, and previously published proceedings have been very well-received.
The Aspergillus field continues in a state of rapid advancement, including the publication of numerous post-genomic papers and substantial advances in translational, immunologic, epidemiologic and diagnostic research. The launch of several antifungals in the last few years and anticipated clinical trials of newer compounds with novel mechanisms of action is an exciting time for mycology. Pan-azole, and echinocandin resistance has emerged and requires unique approaches, and combination therapy remains an important area of interest. Greatly increased awareness of allergic aspergillosis has opened new opportunities for both antifungal agents and immunotherapies. New molecular strategies for diagnosis continue to make progress, and recent guidelines offer increased diagnostic insight. There is a continuing high death toll from invasive aspergillosis, including patient groups not usually associated with this opportunistic infection. This meeting is another chance to gather the world’s aspergillosis experts in one venue. A fundamental tenet of this colloquium continues to be to engender collaborative relationships amongst clinicians, scientists, and industry to further advance the field.
When this 8th meeting convenes, it will represent the 16th year of Advances Against Aspergillosis activity, beginning with the initial supplement in Clinical Infectious Diseases that originated in 2002. All previous 7 international meetings were overwhelmingly successful, as shown in the following table:
Meeting | Year | Location | Attendees | Countries Represented |

1 | 2004 | San Francisco | 364 | 28 |
2 | 2006 | Athens | 464 | 44 |
