We are thrilled to let you know that, the Sixth International Conference on Mycetoma will be organised by the Mycetoma Research Centre, University of Khartoum in partnership with the World Health Organisation and the Global Mycetoma Working Group in Khartoum, Sudan in the period February 10-18, 2018.
The conference aims at providing an excellent forum for clinicians, scientists, social scientists, researchers, medical and health providers and students to deliberate critical issues in mycetoma, the challenges, opportunities, threats, budding problems in mycetoma, and to explore novel solutions based on national and international experience and expertise. It will be a great opportunity for meeting colleagues and sharing experiences.
The scientific meetings will include state-of-the-art presentations by internationally renowned experts in the field, panel discussions, symposia, short communications, meet the experts and poster presentations.

Khartoum is a cosmopolitan town, bridging the gap between North and South of Africa, it is a safe city, situated at the beautiful confluence of the White Nile and the Blue Nile forming the River Nile. February in Khartoum offers visitors the chance to experience nice and dry weather with plenty of sunshine and fascinating blue sky.

ICARe is designed for early career scientists – assistant professors, new industry scientists, MDs, and postdoctoral research associates – as well as members from developing areas contending with the practical challenge of managing the antibiotic resistance problem with limited resources. Attendance will be limited to 40 students and will reflect the global nature of the problem.aza
The course will be administered over 8 days and will consist of formal instruction, review of the literature, small group problem solving including hands-on use of relevant computational tools, innovation-driven brainstorming sessions, and network building.

The objective of the course is to train the next generation of scientists implicated in the study of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and the finding of new drugs
The faculty is composed of 40 internationally recognized scientists and physicians who have made important contributions to antibiotic development, and infectious diseases and resistance management. Faculty will be in residence for a minimum of two days and accessible for informal interactions. Graduates will emerge with a state-of-the-art understanding of existing antibiotics: modes of action, pharmacology, toxicology, mechanisms of resistance, impact of antibiotics on human and other ecologies, current approaches for mining chemical space for antimicrobial activity, the process of advancing hits to leads, the application of next generation nucleic acid-based technologies for antibiotic discovery and resistance detection, and perhaps, most importantly, training and experience in thinking creatively and innovatively about solutions to the problem. The course aims to build an international cadre of collaborative, well networked, and highly trained specialists.

Estimados amigos y amigas, es para nosotros un honor organizar la XI Reunión de la Sociedad Española de Medicina Tropical y Salud Internacional (SEMTSI), que se celebrará en Sevilla los días 22 y 23 de noviembre de 2018, bajo el lema “El escenario cambiante de la salud mundial”, coincidiendo con el XX aniversario de la Sociedad. En las últimas décadas, el escenario de la salud mundial ha vivido y está viviendo profundos cambios, que exigen un análisis profundo y una puesta al día necesaria para todas las personas interesadas o vinculadas al ámbito de la cooperación internacional al desarrollo en salud. En la primera parte de la Reunión intentaremos analizar y sintetizar cuáles han sido los cambios más relevantes que han tenido lugar, abarcando no sólo aspectos conceptuales, sino también de índole política, estratégica y operativa, y todo ello desde con un enfoque eminentemente bio-social y transversal que integre dimensiones y disciplinas propias de las Ciencias de la Salud y de las Ciencias Sociales. Desde esta misma perspectiva, con los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio (ODM) recientemente concluidos y con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) en el horizonte, en la segunda parte de la Reunión pasaremos de lo general a lo concreto, para analizar detalladamente, con la ayuda de reconocidos expertos y de forma participativa, la respuesta o respuestas dadas por la comunidad internacional a los tres grandes problemas de salud “paradigmáticos” y priorizados en los últimos decenios en la agenda mundial: la infección por el VIH/SIDA, la tuberculosis y el paludismo o malaria. Creemos sinceramente que el interés de los aspectos que se abordarán trasciende más allá del de los propios profesionales sanitarios dedicados al ámbito de la Salud Internacional, y es extensivo a personas vinculadas a ONGDs, a Agencias de Cooperación para el Desarrollo, a estudiantes y a personal en formación, a instituciones académicas y, en general, a personas sensibilizadas con estos temas. Esperamos con ilusión vuestra difusión y vuestra participación en este encuentro abierto (no restringido a socios y socias de la SEMTSI), convencidos que todos y todas disfrutaremos de unas jornadas participativas y de calidad científica en una ciudad de este “otro Sur” que os acogerá con los brazos abiertos.
