The annual congress of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) brings together scientists, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders involved in Allergy and Clinical Immunology from all around the world. Our flagship congress is eagerly awaited because it will once again bring the EAACI community together for networking. We will also enjoy the thrill of discovering, learning, and sharing our most recent findings together. The theme of the EAACI 2023 congress is Pathways from precision medicine to personalised health care. More than 120 scientific sessions will take place in Hamburg, along with practical workshops and unique networking opportunities. We wanted to prepare an exceptional programme for this setting, focusing on a comprehensive and pragmatic approach to our discipline, with lots of hands-on workshops and educational sessions. Many other novelties will be there to explore, but we want to keep them a surprise! At EAACI 2023, participants will hear from top specialists in the world, who will share with us their knowledge, experience, and their most recent innovations in precision medicine, food allergy, allergen immunotherapy, biologicals, Immune modulators, prevention of allergic diseases, novel treatment in allergy and asthma, planetary health and more. For those unable to travel, sessions will be streamed online and live from Hamburg. We are eager to welcome you to the EAACI Hybrid Congress 2022, which will this year be held in Prague, Czech Republic and online on 1-3 July 2022.
Following up on the hugely successful first EAACI hybrid congress held in Krakow, Poland last year, we will provide you again with the flexible format, which enables joining us either onsite in the picturesque, historical city of Prague or attend from the comfort of your homes. We are working on an exciting and constantly improving content, that will make your congress experience better than ever – with more possibility for interaction, a rich, top-quality scientific programme, and a smooth digital-physical flow.
Prague reflects the 1000-year fascinating history of Central Europe and its current rapid development will provide the perfect coulisse for this exceptional event. The city’s location in the heart of Europe makes it easily accessible to travelers. Prague has three international railway stations and a bus station, all connected to the metro, as well the Václav Havel Airport Prague, one of the busiest airports in Central Europe. The venue chosen to host our congress is the O₂ universum, a complex situated in north-eastern part of the city centre. It occupies an advantageous position which provides comfortable transport possibility, being reachable within 30 minutes by car from Václav Havel Airport and 10 minutes from the city center. At the same time, we are constantly working on improving our well-established Digital Congress Platform, delivering delegates a synchronized experience and creating bridges between the virtual and physical components of our congress.
The motto this year corresponds to the current research priority of our Academy: the One Health Approach. With this contemporary way of thinking we bring to your attention that the health of our environment, animals and plants is deeply linked to human health. Within the European Commission, the World Health Organisation and other key health opinion leaders, this approach has gained immense momentum, with new initiatives, research and multidisciplinary collaborations carving out an obvious and relevant space for us to join in with our expertise.
A multitude of common factors seems to be responsible for allergic diseases development, duration, and severity in all mammalian species. These include the effects of global warming, climate change, and air pollution which have already become clear; in addition to novel species of plants and animals in geographical regions where they have not been resident before; differences in blooming seasons; changes in the allergenicity of molecules due to CO2, ozone, or pollution contributing fine- and ultra-fine particles; the environmental hygiene status; body hygiene; diet and food composition; nutritional status; food processing; pollution of water, air, and environment; medications such as antibiotics or acid-suppressing drugs, the epithelial barrier hypothesis and many more. All these factors may have a varying influence on development and outcome of allergic diseases. Therefore, to successfully combine them, a well-coordinated approach both in humans and in animals is necessary. This involves a joint effort from all stakeholders, forging collaborations between our disciplines, governmental bodies, industry, and patients.
There is no better place to bring all these minds together than the EAACI Hybrid Congress 2022, which will provide three days of deep knowledge sharing, world-class lectures by our experts, and the possibility to brainstorm on these linkages, priorities, and challenges as the interdisciplinary community we are. The newest EAACI initiatives focusing on the topic of One Health will also be presented: the Research and Outreach Committee, the One Health Working Group’s most recent activities and the development of the new EAACI Environmental Guidelines, among others.

We are eager to welcome you to our EAACI Hybrid Annual Congress 2021 where together we will focus on “Harmonizing Research and Patient care in Allergy Asthma and Clinical Immunology”.
Our motto this year focuses on one of the overarching aims of our academy: ensuring standardization in our field across the globe, thereby facilitating knowledge mobility and providing the best degree of care to our patients worldwide.
We have the tools to enable this, ensuring that EAACI guidelines are implemented in clinical and research centres cross-country, advocating for consistency in policies and fostering the allergy specialty to build a dedicated workforce to tackle allergic diseases and asthma.
New means towards this will be presented at the Congress such as the EAACI Research an Outreach Network: a way to navigate through complex European regulations, limited funding opportunities, challenges in data gathering and overall quality control that will prove the position of EAACI as the global leader in promoting and supporting Research and Development.
In addition, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has all the more emphasized the need for a harmonized approach towards healthcare worldwide, and has highlighted the challenges faced by different countries, whether it be in terms of resources or the strength and preparedness of each national plan. In addition to pursuing these goals, the congress will also be the perfect opportunity to discuss how the pandemic has impacted our field and the ways to deal with these challenges.
The Congress’ new flexible format will enable us to build on the successful digital experience of EAACI Congress 2020: safeguarding your well-being and facilitating your participation wherever in the world you are based, while at the same time providing you access to valuable discussions within our community.
The physical part of the Congress will be organised in the city of Krakow (Poland), selected for its suitability to our new format and accessibility. I am extremely honoured to welcome you to my country, in the ancient capital of Poland and one of the first UNESCO world heritage sites rich with architecture across the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque epochs and home to one of the eldest universities in the world.
Previously planned to be held in Madrid, our Congress will retain its Spanish flavour thanks to the incredible work done on the scientific programme by our Scientific Committee. Our hybrid congress will benefit from the collaboration and joint contributions of the Spanish Local Organising Committee and the EAACI Scientific Programme Committee, and the Polish Society of Allergology.
Thanks to this joint endeavour, we will dive deep into the field of allergy and clinical immunology, through a cross-cutting Congress that uses new technologies and spreads beyond borders.
