14th Annual Fungal Update

Title:

ASM microbe 2016

Date uploaded: 19 December 2018

Conference Year: 2018

Location:

The QE2 Conference Centre, London.

Further information:

The meeting moves for the first time out of its Barts beginnings to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, located in Westminster in the heart of London. Another first is the joint format with international (ISHAM, ECDC, ECMM and EPMyN) and UK national societies (BMS, BSAC and BSBMT) leading parallel sessions, along with the plenary talks.

An outstanding international faculty will present the latest issues in the field of mycology. The topics covered will be wide ranging: point-of care fungal diagnostics; the ever present challenge of fungal diseases in haemato-oncolgy; candida and global women’s health and resistant vulvovaginal candidiasis; the Candida auris story so far; the rise of invasive aspergillosis complicating severe influenza, the new phenomenon of CNS aspergillosis in previously low-risk patient groups with kinase-inhibitors for cancer, as well as the underlying immunological host-pathogen interactions at play in these two settings…and even basic plant and animal mycological research!

One more novelty for Fungal Update 2019, the organisers ask you to submit abstracts for consideration as poster and oral presentations and we hope to publish the proceedings of the meeting, including accepted abstracts in a peer-reviewed journal.

We hope one final innovation is not a step too far? The traditional Friday evening congress dinner will be held in the Houses of Parliament, but places will be limited.

Start and End Date: 15 March 2019, 16 March 2019
