it: Research Position: Development of strategies and materials for HIGS and SIGS approach in strawberry [Duties: Strawberry is economically very important worldwide and demand high amount of fungicides to manage fungal diseases. It is urgent to find alternatives to agrochemicals with no impact on environment, human and animal health. The use of RNAi technology, bidirectional cross-kingdom RNAi and two-way sRNA traf?cking between pests/pathogens and hosts, can offer new options in plant protection with the generation of new RNAi based products that can be applied on plants, by spray or injection, with a target specific effect on pest and diseases. This project aims to develop a SIGS (Spray Induced Gene Silencing) and HIGS (Host Induced Gene Silencing) approaches to induce silencing of key pathogenicity genes of major fungal pathogens of strawberry.
