Research Associate in Invertebrate-Plant-Fungal Interactions

uk: Research Associate in Invertebrate-Plant-Fungal Interactions [1 October 2019 until 31 August 2021 | 100% | Duties: We wish to appoint a highly motivated Research Associate to work on a NERC funded project investigating the ecological and evolutionary consequences of plant to plant signalling via mycorrhizal fungal networks in response to invertebrate herbivory. You will work in collaboration with scientists at the University of Glasgow and AgroScope Zurich, to quantify the fitness costs and benefits to plants and fungi of responding to herbivore-induced signals, and on the effects of fungal diversity and herbivore specificity on signal transfer. The research will determine the specificity of these signals in relation to plant species and herbivore type, and tests the hypothesis that fungal diversity has a key role in shaping the patterns of plant to pla...] / University of Manchester (UoM); Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom
