Abstract:

The Fungarium, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (HMAS, also as
Herbarium Mycologicum Academiae Sinicae) was found in 1953, aiming at the collection and
preservation of fungal materials. Currently, over 480,000 fungal specimens are housed in HMAS. All the
collections are now data-based with details of each specimen. Efforts have also been devoted to develop
a collection of fungal DNA samples and a website (http://www.fungalinfo.net/) for Checklist of Fungi in
China (a database for fungi recorded in China) and Fungal Names (a depository for registration of fungal
names). An extensive survey of the literature and data is conducted to gather the information related to
fungal records in China, including Latin name, synonym, Chinese name, taxonomic status, geographical
distribution, habitat, host, culture, morphological characters, specimens, references, and so on. The
detailed and comprehensive records of each fungal species in China will be brought together in this
database of the Checklist of Fungi in China, providing useful information for the research, management
and utilization of Chinese fungal resources. The database of Fungal Names is open to everyone who
