Taxonomy and identification of the species involved in nosocomial aspergillosis

Abstract:

Although Aspergillus fumigatus is the most common etiological agent of invasiveaspergillosis, other Aspergillusspp. such as A . flavus, A. niger, A. terreus andA. nidulans ( Emericella nidulans) among others, have been also implicated. Inthis article, the taxonomy of the genus Aspergillusand the characteristics of thespecies most frequently isolated from patients with nosocomial aspergillosis arereviewed.
