Mycotic mastitis in buffaloes

Abstract:

ABSTRACT: Three hundred and milk samples collected from the cases of clinical and subclinical mastitis in buffaloes were subjected to mycological examination. Eighty one fungal isolates (23.14 percent) were obtained, out of which 51 isolates (63.0 percent) were years and 30 (37.0 percent) moulds. The different species of yeast were Candida albicans (33.3 percent), C Krusei (25.5 percent), C. trapicalis (15.7 percent),C. parapsilosis (13.7 percent), C. guillermondit(5.9 percent), Trichaspo spp. (3.9 percent), and Rhodotorula spp. (2.0 percent),amongst moulds, Aspergillus niger (33.3 percent), A. fumigalus (23.3 percent), Mucor spp. (33.3 percent), A. flavus (6.7 percent), and Penicillium spp. (3.3 percent) were isolated. Six (20.0 percent) of the isolated moulds could not be identified.
