Abstract:

Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is clinically used to prevent graft rejection but may increase the risk of fungal infection. We observed that MPA enhanced the Aspergillus fumigatus-induced oxidative burst of polymorphonuclear neutrophils but without a corresponding increase in fungal killing. Further, MPA inhibited pro-inflammatory cytokine response and maturation of dendritic cells.
