Published interaction studies of itraconazole and corticosteroids

Itraconazole is an inhibitor of cytochrome P450 3A4. It increases exposure to methylprednisolone (Varis et al, 1999; Lebrun-Vignes et al, 2001), dexamethasone (Varis et al, 2000), budesonide (Raaska et al, 2002) and probably fluticasone (Parmar et al, 2002), but not prednisolone (Variset al 2000; Lebrun-Vignes et al, 2001) or endogenous cortisol (Phillips et al, 1987; Queiroz-Telles F et al, 1997). No published study has addressed any interaction of itraconazole and beclomethasone.
