I would say that they may now treat your friend more aggressively as she has given birth and the baby cannot be harmed by drugs she may be given.

Given that there are apparent signs of spread of the infection she is going to have a tough time beating this, however all is not lost as it has been done before - see http://aspergillusblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/lucy-laws-recovers-for-aspergillosis.html and our methods of treatment improve all the time.

We now have several options for antifungal treatment so if one fails we can use others - something that would not have been possible more than 10 years ago.
