Mechanism of Sporanox (& other azoles)

What mechanism does sporanox use to attack the fungus?
My understanding is that the mechanism is somehow linked to the human DNA sequence, but I don't understand how a fixed entity (such as the DNA sequence) can be manipulated to attack a fungus. I've never received an adequate explanation.
Also, how long have azoles been used as antifungals?
