Air-borne spores, pollen and the weather in 2005

The Aspergillus website in conjunction with the Midlands Asthma & Allergy Research Association have collaborated to make available 8 months of data from 2005 on air-borne spores and pollen, together with the weather conditions in Derby, UK.

It is therefore possible to search for pollen and spores from any of numerous species (53 species of pollen, 32 of spores) and to correlate those levels with any of a dozen or more weather conditions prevailing during that time. The results are presented as a series of graphs in order to make it very easy to see at a glance the information requested.

MAARA have another 30 years of this data available in spreadsheet format for any interested party to use - please contact MAARA for details on purchasing extended access.

(NOTE: If you find the graphs difficult to see then you may well have one of the newer browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer 6). These can have a feature called 'Automatic Image Resizing' which shrinks the image to fit the size of your window. This causes problems for graphs, in particular the text. Inactivate this activity in Internet Explorer by selecting Tools>Internet Options> Advanced (tab)>uncheck the box next to 'Enable Automatic Image Resizing'.)

Do you have data you would like us to present like this?
We can present data in multiple different graphical formats - line, histogram, pie and more - and would be very interested in adding data on air quality (or other relevant subjects) from other parts of the world to this section of the website. We can accept data in most common formats, including spreadsheets, databases, CSV files or just plain text files. All of our data is safely and securely stored on servers at the University of Manchester, UK.
If your data gathering is ongoing we would offer a simple webform for you to add in your new data whenever you wish, and it would be automatically and instantly incorporated into the graphs.

Send all requests for data submission to Aspergillus@manchester.ac.uk
