Antifungal Susceptibility Testing of Moulds

have developed eTest, a series of test strips which are inpregnated with antifungal drugs, including itraconazole, amphotericin, flucytosine, fluconazole and ketoconazole. At one end of the strip there is high concentration of the drug which decreases in defined steps along the strip.
The strips are laid onto growing culture plates during incubation - the result is a zone of inhibition around the strip which is proportional to the amount of drug - see the examples below for several species of Aspergillus.

Aspergillus flavus, read at 72 hours.
Itraconazole MIC 0.75µg/ml
Aspergillus niger, read at 48 hours.
Amphotericin MIC 0.75µg/ml
Aspergillus fumigatus, read at 24 hours.
Itraconazole MIC 1µg/ml
Aspergillus flavus, read at 24 hours.
Itraconazole MIC 0.19µg/ml
Aspergillus flavus, read at 24 hours.
Itraconazole MIC 6µg/ml
