Personal Donations

The Aspergillosis Patient Support and Aspergillus Website's are mainly funded by charitable donations to the Fungal Research Trust.

The Fungal Research Trust also funds and supports research into fungal diseases around the world. Over 99% of all income (2008 figures) to the Fungal Research Trust is spent on research and support for fungal diseases and people suffering from fungal diseases. Administration spending is kept to an absolute minimum.

If you found our websites and services helpful and useful or you wish to contribute to the research work funded by the FRT you might like to donate to the Fungal Research Trust.

£25 keeps the patient support groups running for a day
£50 will keep the Aspergillosis for Patients website running for a day
£100 will pay for a Research Assistant for a day
£125 will pay for a Postdoctoral Researcher or Clinical Research Nurse for a day
£200 will keep the Aspergillus Website running for a day
£1000 keeps the University of Manchester Research Team running for one day
£14 000 keeps the National Aspergillosis Centre running for one day

These amounts are a guide, any donation of any amount would be gratefully received.

Fundraising ideas

Christmas cards We are selling handmade greetings cards (Christmas & birthday) which are made for us by a patient volunteer. 75% of the price you pay goes to the FRT.

Use the buy.at service so that dozens of high street retailers will make a payment to us (usually 2-3%) every time someone shops on their website via this link. There is no cost to you to use this service so please try to make it a habit whenever you shop online - there are hundreds of shops participating!

For your convenience we accept donation payments via PayPal.

This enables us to accept payments in the local currencies of any of 190 countries and regions of the world. Payments are secure.

The Fungal Research Trust is a not-for-profit charity based in the UK which was formed in 1991.

The Trust's objectives are the following:

To advance education particularly amongst physicians and scientists about mycology, fungal diseases, fungal toxicology and microbial disease in general.
To promote and publish research in all aspects of mycology, fungal diseases, fungal toxicology and microbial disease (of all living things).
Generally to support basic research into fungi and fungal disease, train scientists into mycology and related disciplines.

Legacies

Leaving money to the Fungal Research Trust in your will is be a great way of ensuring you remember our work. People often use these donations in the UK to ensure that their estate (including property, savings, investments) falls below the limit for Inheritance Tax (charged at 40% over £325 000 estate value). The result is that the Fungal Research Trust would get your money rather than the Inland Revenue.

There are several companies that will help you organise a legacy donation

These tend to charge for their services so your donation is reduced slightly.

Many charities have very full details on what to do. One of the best is Cancer Research UK.

If you use CRUK you will just have to change their details to that of the FRT, the rest of the information applies just as well to the FRT as it does to CRUK.
